Clubbing
Clubland Sheffield has come a long way in the past few years. What was once the preserve of the 18 to 25 year-old all-night hedonism seekers now offers far more choice and excuses to party all the way to OAP land.
For a true picture of the scope and choice you need to be sensible and get a copy of the Dirty Stop Out’s Guide but until you see the light here’s a few recommendations:

Another quiet night in Sheffield clubland

Casbah

Casbah
Tel: 0114 275 6077
1 Wellington Street S1

City centre rock’n’roll madhouse which successfully persuaded former punters of long-lost clubbing legends like Limit and Rebels to dig out their mouldy leathers, sod the kids and return to their irresponsible former lives of hangovers and moshpits.
Formerly bikers pub the Wapentake, this place has had a much needed kick up the arse with sounds spanning AC/DC to Green Day.
Rarely predictable – Bernard Manning made his debut early in 2003 – the place offers a lot of live bands and various retro/drum and bass events in the week.

Charles Street

Tel: 0114 281 8283
Charles St S1

Former Freedom gay club which has now taken over where the former Brown St left off. (That’s now the Spearmint Rhino lap dancing house of ill-repute/tasteful gentlemen’s club, depending whom you talk to.)
Offers the groundbreaking Quality R’n’B night voted one of the best nights in universe by readers of The Face amongst other events.
Managed by rising stars of the promotion world, In Ya Face, who also operate the massive Moulin Rouge night at Kingdom.

Hands up who says Sheffield clubs are great

Corporation

Tel: 0114 276 0262
1-3 Milton Street S1

Rock/alternative club which has battled against the odds to boast one of the best venues of its kind in the country.
The thanks for spending a good few years of hard toil establishing itself in
the former Cairos building on Bank Street came in the shape of the building
being converted into offices.
Set up temporary homes in numerous venues as knock-back after knock-back continued, halting its attempts to move into the former magistrates court building down the Castle Market area.
Now hammering the foundations of the former Unit club on Milton Street.
The multi-storey club, with some very Geiger-inspired artwork covering the corridors, is now expanding with a new live room.

A rocking club indeed
